Jubilee: 50 Years of Horticultural Education, Research and Innovation at USAMV Cluj-Napoca, Romania

Advances in Plant Sciences and Horticultural Systems for Rural Development and Sustainability

The Faculty of Horticulture and Business in Rural Development (FHADR) of the University of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine Cluj-Napoca proudly celebrates 50 years of excellence in horticultural education, research, and innovation. For half a century, the Faculty has played a pivotal role in shaping generations of engineers and specialists, fostering academic excellence, scientific advancement, and interdisciplinary collaboration.

As we enter our sixth decade, we reaffirm our commitment to promoting the role of Horticulture in addressing contemporary societal and environmental challenges. Our vision is to further strengthen the faculty  position as a leading academic and research hub, dedicated to advancing interdisciplinary approaches that integrate scientific knowledge, technological innovation, and sustainable practices.

We warmly invite academics, researchers, institutional partners, and industry representatives to join us in celebrating this important milestone by reflecting on the achievements of the past, engaging with the challenges of the present, and envisioning together the future of horticulture sciences and businesses.

Special Issue of NBHA

To mark this anniversary, a special issue of Notulae Botanicae Horti Agrobotanici Cluj-Napoca (NBHA) will be published. The issue will showcase contributions that advance horticultural theory and practice through innovative interdisciplinary research, novel methodologies, and collaborative approaches. We encourage researchers and professionals to contribute their work and become part of this landmark celebration. Selected full papers based on the contributions presented in the conference “Advances in Plant Sciences and Horticultural Systems for Rural Development and Sustainability” organised on the 22nd of September 2027 in Cluj-Napoca, Romania may be submitted to this dedicated special issue of Notulae Botanicae Horti Agrobotanici Cluj-Napoca.

All manuscripts will undergo the journal’s standard editorial assessment and peer-review process. Please note that acceptance of an abstract for presentation does not imply acceptance of the full manuscript for publication.

The conference welcomes interdisciplinary contributions. Nevertheless, Notulae Botanicae Horti Agrobotanici Cluj-Napoca will consider for publication only manuscripts that make a clear, substantial, and demonstrable contribution to Plant Sciences, consistent with the journal’s aims, scope, and indexing profile (Web of Science, IF = 1.7) through:

  • innovative interdisciplinary research;
  • novel experimental approaches and methodologies;
  • advances in plant breeding;
  • plant genetic resources, germplasm conservation, and cultivar evaluation;
  • sustainable crop production systems;
  • plant physiology, biochemistry, and functional traits;
  • biodiversity conservation;
